The residents of DLF City Phase 5 have launched a CNG-run shuttle bus service on Saturday to reduce the pollution levels and to make commuting within Phase 5 more convenient. The shuttle will operate from 7am to 7:45pm seven days a week.

The service will start from Club Vita and pass through South Point Mall, The Summit, DLF 5 club, Westend Heights, The Icon, The Pinnacle, DLF Golf Course gate no 1, The Magnolias, The Aralias and The Belaire. (Parveen Kumar/HT Photo)

This service will cater to a population of 25,000, living in 8,000 apartments of 14 condominiums. The shuttle has a seating capacity of 18 and will complete one round from Club Vita to Club Vita in 47 minutes.

The service was flagged off by Gurgaon deputy commissioner of police (traffic) Balbir Singh. DLF has uploaded the route map of the service on its website and a circular has been sent to every apartment.

The service will also take residents to South Point Mall, which is the nearest shopping destination.

“We organise parties regularly and this service is really nice as we will not have to take out our cars. The parking hassle is also over. It is a nicely designed bus, fully air-conditioned and has music players. We will soon be provided with an access card with our picture to avail the bus service,” Indu Arora of DLF Wellington Estate, Phase 5, said.

“Women in our group visit malls for breakfast and lunch and this shuttle service will ensure we are travelling together. This will be like going back to college days and recollecting memories,” Smita Roy Jain, a DLF resident, said.

The service will start from Club Vita and pass South Point Mall, The Summit, DLF 5 club, Westend Heights, The Icon, The Pinnacle, DLF Golf Course gate no 1, The Magnolias, The Aralias and The Belaire.

Devender Yadav, vice-president (commercial), said, “DLF’s eco-friendly shuttle is a feather on our cap. DLF 5 takes pride in the fact that we have always given paramount importance to protecting our shared environment and ecology. This is also a step forward to help our residents from all condominiums to use the shuttle and avoid traffic and parking chaos.”

“The route will be extended to MG Road soon on residents demand as most of them frequently visit the area for shopping. We aim to make travelling within the city easier for residents and encourage the use of shared transport,” Yadav said.

In 2011, DLF had launched a paid service, which connected DLF City to Iffco Chowk and Dronacharya metro stations.

Another paid shuttle service was launched by the DLF and the Cyber City Welfare Society in 2010. The service connected Sikanderpur to various corporate offices in the Cyber City.
