The most potential death traps include the road near Kherki Daula toll plaza and Polytechnic College in Manesar on NH-8. Five accidents each were reported from these spots. Narsinghpur village and Bilaspur Chowk in Gurgaon witnessed four mishaps each.
Other identified danger spots include Khandsa bus stand, Hero Honda Chowk, Parvati crossing, Naurangpur Crossing/Rampura Chowk, Binola Industrial Area, Farrukhnagar bus stand, Kaliawas Chowk, Manesar bus stand, NSG gate on NH-8, IMT Chowk, Raisena Zone turning, Shikohpur turning, Zenpact Chowk, Qutub Plaza, Gate-4, Faridabad Road and Ambedkar Chowk on Sohna Road.
“We have decided to put up more signboards at these locations and will emphasise on better maintenance of the road wherever necessary to avoid accidents,” said a senior official of the Gurgaon traffic police.
While the need for developing infrastructure for smoother pedestrian movement at Hero Honda Chowk and Kherki Daula is known, faulty road design which allows traffic movement in the wrong side was blamed for most accidents in the city.
