Police on Thursday arrested a gang of three persons, including an employee of an e-commerce firm, for allegedly stealing merchandise from its trucks. Police recovered over two dozen mobile phones, a tool and four packets of other merchandise.

Police said the gang members did not change the prescribed route of the truck that carried the merchandise. Instead, they stole the goods during the stoppage time at traffic signals.
Rajiv Desval, deputy commissioner of police (DCP), said the accused men have been identified as Sanjay Kumar, 30, a driver with the e-commerce firm; Rizwan, 32, arrested earlier for stealing luggage from airport, and Pardeep, 39, who hails from Ghaziabad in UP .
Sanjay, a native of Samastipur, Bihar, had started working for the e-commerce firm in the past fortnight, while Rizwan was previously caught stealing luggage from the Delhi airport.
“The suspects hatched a plan to steal containers using a device to de-seal trucks. Since the trucks have pre-installed GPS devices, they did not carry out the robbery by diverting their route but instead stole containers by making frequent stops at traffic signals,” said Subhash Boken, police spokesperson.
The police said on March 11, Sanjay, who was carrying merchandise from east Delhi in a company truck to Manesar, called his aides to execute the plan. The trio then stole some containers carrying mobile phones after de-sealing the truck door with a device near Anand Vihar bus terminal in Delhi.
