The Haryana government has said that the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) shall now be applicable on the employees of the two discoms in the state - Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam.

The power department has issued a notification in this regard, said a government spokesperson.
The Haryana government issued the notice in reference to an order issued by Additional Civil Judge (senior division), Hisar.
While referring to the order, the spokesperson, said, "Various employee unions have been restrained from holding any demonstration, dharna, gate meeting or gheraoing the managing director and any other officer of the Bijli Vitran Nigam till the next date of hearing."
The employee unions have also been restrained from obstructing or creating nuisance within a radius of 200 metre from the outer boundary walls of the head office of the nigam.
"The order restrains the union from obstructing any nigam official from entering their respective offices, interfering in the performance of their duties and obstructing any consumer from entering the offices of the nigam," he added.
