The Haryana government will provide health care facility to the workers injured in accidents during employment under the Centre's Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).

Also, in the event of death of such workers, the family would be entitled for free hospitalization and treatment apart from the ex-gratia, a spokesman of the Development and Panchayat Department said.
He said the workers hired under the central government scheme would be given daily medical allowance at least half of their per day wages. The state government has also decided to make the payment of wages under MGNREGA through smart cards so as to ensure more transparency in the implementation of the scheme.
The spokesperson said that Rs. 969.04 crore had been incurred so far during the last seven-and-a-half year on the implementation of MGNREGA and the state government will provide 128.75 lakh man days during the current financial year. A total of Rs. 433.89 crore has been allocated for the purpose.
