Gurgaon civic polls: INLD announces six more

Subject to the candidates’ nominations being cleared by the election commission on September 15, the six candidates will contest the elections from wards 6, 10, 11, 18, 27 and 28.

The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) announced six more candidates for the upcoming Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) elections on Monday. The party also stated that the rest of the candidates will be announced on Tuesday.

So far, INLD has announced candidates for 17 of 35 wards for the upcoming elections scheduled on September 24.

Subject to the candidates’ nominations being cleared by the election commission on September 15, the six candidates will contest the elections from wards 6, 10, 11, 18, 27 and 28.

Chetan Malhotra has been chosen to contest the election from ward 6, Jagmohan Singh from ward 10, Kamal Singh from ward 11, Gaurav Chokar from ward 18, Neelam Panwar from ward 27 and Deepak Gehlot from ward 28.

“The five candidates have been selected keeping in mind youth representation. Panwar will represent the aspirations of trade union members as well as women voters. The remaining candidates will be announced tomorrow (Tuesday),” said Rajesh Soota, the chairman of MCG election committee for INLD.

So far, INLD has announced candidates for 17 of 35 wards for the upcoming elections scheduled on September 24.

Kamal Singh, a resident of Rajendra Park and a bar member at the district court said that he is optimistic about his chances in the upcoming MCG elections. Kamal is contesting the elections from ward 11.

“People in my locality know me well as I am constantly trying to uplift and upgrade the amenities in the area. I am hopeful of winning the seat for my party,” Kamal said.
