Gurgaon: Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line service disrupted again

Services for disrupted around noon and commuters left stranded

The Yellow Line services of the Delhi Metro were hit on Sunday afternoon for the second time in a week. Last Sunday too, the line had developed a snag around noon, leaving passengers stuck for hours.

This Sunday afternoon, an electrical fault left commuters stuck inside metro trains and stations for around two hours. Services were normalised by 2pm, according to an official from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

The Yellow Line, from Samaypur Badli in Delhi to Huda City Centre in Gurgaon, is the only DMRC service to and from Gurgaon.

The fault took place at Chhattarpur metro station , the DMRC official said. The official added that being a Sunday, the impact of the disturbed services was not felt as much.

However, a number of passengers were affected. some of whom missed important appointments due to the delay.

Neetu Sharma, travelling from Huda City Centre to New Delhi, said, “I boarded the train from Huda City Centre station with my two children at 11.30am. I reached Qutab Minar station by 2.35pm. The stations were crowded and nobody was aware of the reason for the delay.”

Irate commuters stuck inside the trains also took to the social media.

Romil Srivastava tweeted, “Avoid Delhi metro yellow line...stuck for the past one hour.”

“The Delhi Metro has always been a lifesaver, but today the yellow line is just a pain in the a** (sic),” @infinityonpause tweeted.

Another commuter, tweeting from the handle @vikesh_royal, said on twitter, “Technical problem, stuck in Delhi metro yellow line (sic).”

However, the DMRC spokesperson said, “The fault was discovered at around 12:30pm and we were able to resolve the issue with two hours. Services on line 2 were minorly affected between Sultanpur and Qutub Minar at around 12:30pm when single line working was undertaken between this section to repair a technical problem.”

Last Sunday, the snag had occurred because an overhead power line had ruptured between the Qutub Minar and Green Park section, bringing trains to a halt.
