Singh, who is also the member of parliament (MP) from Gurgaon, reminded Gadkari of his July 2014 promise to the people about getting the toll plaza removed .

“You may like to recall your visit to NH-8 (Delhi-Gurgaon-Jaipur-Expressway) with officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in July 2014 when you promised to remove the Kherki Daula toll plaza. I again request its removal at the earliest in public interest,” Singh told Gadkari in a letter that he handed over to him during the meeting on Wednesday.

Hindustan Times has been carrying a campaign, ‘Taking a Toll’, to generate public opinion for the removal or shifting of Kherki Daula toll plaza.

Rao Inderjit Singh has repeatedly raised the issue of snarls on the expressway and the lack of road infrastructure in his constituency. He has maintained that the Kherki Daula toll plaza is a bottleneck for commuters and a major drag on the industries in Manesar and Bawal.

He also mentioned the dire need for underpasses at Narsinghpur, Rathiwas, Kharkara, Khijuri, Salawas and Jaisingpur Khera villages.

“I request that the NHAI officials be directed to execute these works at the earliest,” Singh said in the letter said.
