A group of MSME operators has written to the cabinet secretary Ajit Seth, citing a list of “actionable” suggestions and demands to tackle decreasing export volume.

Seth, who had held a high-level meeting on the issue on March 15, has already announced formation of small groups to look into various suggestions from the MSME sector.

The meeting was attended by the MSME wing of the industry chambers and associations, including Udyog Vihar Chambers of Industries and Udyog Vihar Industrial Association.

According to the experts, absence of a dedicated organisation to ensure marketing of SME products, lack of funding support and tax relief, and short supply of power are some of the major problems that plague the MSME industry. The sector employs nearly 60 million people in more than 2.5 crore units and contributes about 40% to the country’s total exports.
