The social justice and empowerment department has identified about 90 buildings in Gurgaon and Faridabad that will be made disabled-friendly in a bid to ensure convenience of such people, said Raj Nirbhik, commissioner (disabilities) of the department.

Interacting with mediapersons here on Friday, Nirbhik said that 42 such buildings have been identified in Gurgaon of which two are in dilapidated condition. Apart from this, estimates of 20 buildings have been made and sent to the social justice and empowerment department for approval.
These include mini secretariat, court complex, office of the electricity department Kadipur, office of the police commissioner, civil hospital in Sector 10-A, public health department, state education research and training council and several other government and private buildings.

He also highlighted that the initiative is a part of many being undertaken by the Haryana government for the welfare of disabled persons, including provision of pension under the Haryana Divyang Pension Rules, 2016 to persons with 60% disability.
Apart from this, pension is being provided to such people who are unable to visit banks, at their doorstep, he said. Sarfraj Khan, district social welfare officer, and Ram Kumar Phalswal, district primary education officer were also present at the interaction.
