Gurgaon: Waterlogging causes snarls on Anaath Road

Office goers of Sector 18 are having a tough time navigating the waterlogged 2.5-km Sahraul Road, also known as Anaath (Orphan)Road.

A number of corporate office such as Siemens, Pearl Pet, Agilent Technologies, Tupperware, HCL, Lumax, Orient Craft and Munjal Showa are located along the stretch. Commuters said waterlogging, dumping of garbage along the road and illegal parking have made the road impassable.

After six years of asking the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) to relay Sarhaul Road, residents rebuilt it themselves in 2009 and rechristened it Anaath Road.

“Illegal parking on both sides of the road and huge potholes that get waterlogged after each rain have made lives of people taking Anath road miserable. It is a wastage of man hours and the administration must act on this issue,” said Megha Jha, manager, public relations, Nagaaro.

“There is no place for pedestrians on this road. We do not want to have a rerun of the massive gridlock last monsoon,” said NP Grewal, director of a company.

The road users have written to the district administration, but nothing has been done so far.

Hardeep Singh, deputy commissioner, said, “We will get the parked vehicles removed from the stretch and will ensure that commuters have enough space to drive on and walk.”
