Haryana to set up more Bandhwari-like plants

“The model of the Bandhwari waste treatment plant is likely to be replicated in other parts of the state,” said Samir Pal Saro, director general of the Haryana urban local bodies.

A team of 150 engineers inspected the plant on Tuesday. The engineers and other senior officials of 85 municipal committees, councils and corporations of the state spent four hours at the plant and discussed ways to improve its treatment capacity.

“The plant is running successfully and there is a scope of improving its capacity. We inspected the entire operation and hope our engineers have learnt a lot,” said Saro, adding that in some cities the plan is already underway to set up more such plants.

Bandhwari plant is the only waste treatment plant in the state. It was set up in 2010.
