The expressway, also known as the Northern Peripheral Road (NPR), will connect Dwarka with NH-8 at Kherki Daula.

Several residential and commercial projects have come up along the expressway but connectivity has become a problem for people who have moved here.

The protest was organised by the DXP Welfare Association -- a combination of several associations of flat owners along the Dwarka Expressway.

“The fully operational Dwarka Expressway is going to provide alternative connectivity between Delhi and Gurgaon, and it will help decongest NH-8. Traffic on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway will reduce by almost 40%,” Pradip Rahi, a protester, said.

The project, however, has already missed several deadlines.

“We want Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar to intervene in the matter to expedite the clearance of land under litigation that is required to complete the project. We have been demanding the completion of the road for several years but there has been no solution to our problems,” Vishal Chauhan, another protestor, said.

The protesters also demanded a concrete road map of flyovers and underpasses on the expressway.

“There are issues with the project as land is under litigation and we are still working on it,” a senior Huda official said.
