Chief administrator of Huda DPS Nagal said, “There is no merit in the NHAI’s demand for land along the

elevated corridor of the expressway. Will they widen service lanes at the cost of developed green belts? The NHAI should first prepare a clear-cut plan.”

Nagal’s comment was in response to a report published in HT on Tuesday. NHAI chairman AK Upadhyay, however, could not be available for comments.

City traffic police have, however, blamed both NHAI and Huda for not doing the needful to create more space for service lanes along the expressway for decongesting traffic.

In a latest meeting held with NHAI, DGSCL and Huda, Gurgaon police commissioner KK Sindhu raised the issue.

“We have discussed the need for service lanes and cloverleaves and loop lanes with the officials. But they did not show any interest. These facilities have to be provided to decongest local traffic,” said Gurgaon deputy commissioner of police (traffic), Bharti Arora.
