Investment region draft plan gets govt approval

The Draft Development Plan for the Manesar-Bawal Investment Region (MBIR) 2039 and Development Plan of Jind 2031 were approved during a meeting of the town and country planning department with chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda in Chandigarh on Thursday.

The Draft Development Plan for the Manesar-Bawal Investment Region (MBIR) 2039 and Development Plan of Jind 2031 were approved during a meeting of the town and country planning department with chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda in Chandigarh on Thursday.

The Draft Development Plan for the MBIR has been prepared for a population of nearly 32 lakh people and will be set in an area of 40,232 hectares. Under the first phase (2011-21), as many as 8,800 hectares of land would be developed whereas 15,000 hectares would be developed during the second phase up to the year 2031.

The third phase of the MBIR would be completed by 2039.

Under the MBIR, an industrial township would be developed in the first phase over an area of about 400 sq km.

The MBIR is located in Rewari district and is about 82 km south-west of NCT of Delhi. The area of MBIR covers 400 sq km, which will include the existing Bawal industrial town and the stretch along NH-8 up to the Rajasthan border.

In the MBIR, about 11,189 hectares has been earmarked for residential purpose, 1,120 hectares for commercial use, 6,771 for industrial, 4,254 for transport and communication, 441 for public utilities, 892 for public and semi-public, 13,005 for open spaces and recreation, 424 for rivers and water bodies and 2,136 for natural zone.

The meeting also recommended that the green belt falling under residential areas be increased, besides a 30-metre green belt should be left on both sides of the NH-8.
