Japan on Tuesday lauded the 'strong initiatives' taken by the Haryana government in the wake of recent violence at the Maruti plant in Manesar.

Japan on Tuesday lauded the 'strong initiatives' taken by the Haryana government in the wake of recent violence at the Maruti plant in Manesar.

Japanese Ambassador Akitaka Saiki conveyed his government's gratitude to Hooda when the former met the CM at Haryana Bhawan in Delhi on Tuesday.

According to a Press release, Akitaka thanked Hooda for state's commitment to the "safety and security of the investors in general and Japanese in particular".

Hooda had recently written a letter to the Ambassador in which he had informed about various steps taken by the state government to ensure safety of the employees.

In the meeting, the chief minister reiterated that the safety of entire Japanese community was the state's duty.

A full Battalion of Police, comprising about 550 police personnel and officers, had also been stationed at Manesar to ensure safety of one and all and the state government would also provide personal security if needed, he said and added that the state government was also concerned about the incident, which was the only one untoward incident that had happened so far in Haryana.

The Ambassador said that the Japanese Embassy was 'very appreciative of the measures so far taken by the state government', the release added.

A few Japanese nationals also injured in the violence in Manesar plant.
