The man was identified as Kevin Lewis, who belonged to Mumbai and worked as a marketing executive at Royal Enfield’s headquarters in Gurugram’s Sector 32. The woman riding pillion with him was Anvita Kant, an engineer with a software company. She had moved to Gurugram last month from Faridabad where her family lives.

According to police, the accident had been witnessed by a passerby who made an emergency call. Lewis and Kant were flung around 50-60 metres from the point of impact on the road between Magnolias and Summit Apartments in DLF 5.

“We are also checking the CCTV footage from the cameras installed nearby to know when they came onto Golf Course Road and where Anvita joined Kevin on the motorcycle. They might have been at a high speed,” Arvind Kumar, inspector, Sushant Lok police station said. He said that Anvita was a resident of DLF 5.

Lewis was wearing a helmet and was found with his face down, with both hands behind his back. He died on the spot and Kant was declared dead when police rushed her to a private hospital, Kumar added.

One of the officials at Royal Enfield’s headquarters in sector 32 said Kevin was working with the marketing department of the company for almost last two years and was using a company vehicle.

A colleague of Kevin said that he was a ‘reliable’ motorcyclist who had been on many rides for shoots and expeditions. “He was particular about wearing a full face helmet. The accident could be due to a pothole in the road, due to which the motorcycle jumped,” said a colleague, who did not want to be identified.

Dr Deepak Mathur, a forensic expert at the Gurugram Civil Hospital who conducted the duo’s autopsy, said neither was under the influence of alcohol.
