Narrow escape for mother, son as goons fire bullets

According to the police, Nikhil, a resident of Ramgadh village, was going with his mother on his bike when three men in a car aimed bullets at them and fled.

Badshahpur police inspector Ramchandra Singh said, “The man and his mother were returning from a bank with Rs 3 lakh cash when the miscreants attacked them. We have filed an FIR against unidentified people on the basis of the victim’s statement and are conducting investigations to nab them.”

Discom official arrested for graft

The state vigilance bureau caught a junior engineer of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of R20,000 on Wednesday.

The accused, Surender Ahuja, will be presented in court on Thursday.

According to the police, Bharat Bhushan, a resident of Sector 17, had complained that Ahuja, posted at the sub-division office in South City, took bribe. The accused had allegedly demanded the money to reduce Bhushan’s electricity bill. The police recovered have Rs 20,000 from the accused.
