The new facility which is being constructed near the Huda City Centre Metro station will be the first bus terminal in New Gurgaon.

According to officials of the Haryana Roadways, the terminal is likely to be functional by August and it will be used for intra-city as well as long distance luxury buses.

“The existing bus stands in Gurgaon are almost six decades old. Moreover, with the city in rapid expansion mode, most changes have been made in New Gurgaon, where there is hardly any public transport. There is a need for such a facility in the area,” said Yashendra Singh, general manager of Haryana Roadways.

The terminal will be able to accommodate nine luxury buses and 100 city buses. At present, Gurgaon has 180 intra-city buses and 16 long-distance buses. At least 120 intra-city buses and nine luxury buses are expected to add to the fleet of the Roadways’ passenger vehicles by May.

The new luxury buses, which will ferry passengers from Gurgaon to Chandigarh, Jaipur, Dehradun, Agra, and Haridwar, will be equipped with Wi-Fi internet connectivity and CCTV cameras.

With the launch of additional buses, the total number of routes will be increased from 15 to 22. On an average, 95,000 people use state buses in Gurgaon every day. With the opening of the new bus depot, the number of daily commuters is expected to increase to 1.5 lakh.
