Days after a nationwide survey revealed how apathetically people treat road-accident victims in our country, the Haryana government has for the first time ever issued guidelines to ensure immediate medical aid to victims of vehicular and other accidents.
These guidelines have been issued for providing timely medical aid to road-accident victims and also to ensure that persons who help in transporting such victims are not subjected to inconvenience under the garb of investigation.
The state home department has directed the director general of police, deputy commissioners, sub-divisional officers (civil), commissioners and superintendents of police to ensure that the victims of vehicular and other accidents are immediately transported to the nearest hospital for immediate medical help without insisting on unnecessary formalities.
The police personnel present on the spot or on reaching the spot would be responsible for immediate transportation of the victims without causing delay on account of formalities.
Similarly, the persons present on the spot of the accident should also help out in the transportation of victims of accidents to the nearest hospitals without hesitation.
As per the guidelines, the cops must not subject the helping person to unnecessary inquiries. The police personnel have been warned not to harass the persons, who help in transporting the accident victims to the hospitals. All measures will be adopted for providing medical aid at the nearest hospital without causing delay so as to save the victims.
