The owner of a cosmetic manufacturing unit had challenged the acquisition of her property that falls on the 18-kilometre-long expressway. Amid several pending litigations over the disputed four-kilometre-stretch of the road, also called Dwarka Expressway, the court had stayed construction on the patch.

Work on the remaining 14 kilometres has also been progressing at a snail's pace.

A total of 276 house and plot owners had moved court after land acquisition notices were issued to them in 2008. About 20 farmers and other commercial establishments had also challenged the move.

On the other hand, more than 100 private developers have planned residential and commercial projects all along this expressway.

"The court order has set a precedent for other litigants and indicates that the state government would get a favourable decision in other cases as well. We hope the court would acknowledge the fact that the NPR project is in larger public interest," said a homeowner who had booked a flat in sector 109.
