Physicians to launch SMS service to help doctors in rural areas

The Association of Physicians of India is planning to launch a special all India short message service in Gurgaon in February which would give doctors serving in rural areas a chance to update their medical knowledge. The Association of Physicians of India is planning to launch a special all India short message service in Gurgaon in February which would give doctors serving in rural areas a chance to update their medical knowledge.

This special service will be launched during the 70th annual conference of The Association of Physicians of India— APICON 2015. The association has created a database for this service.

According to Rajesh Upadhyay, chairman, scientific committee, APICON, “The service will form a network of doctors in the country where they can interact with each other and update themselves with latest developments in medicine and improve their diagnostic skills. The service will play a big role in connection the doctors in the rural areas with the super speciality doctors in the city as they barely get a chance to attend medical conferences and are away from the digital world.”

The Association of Physicians of India held a brief introductory session on the four- day medical conference at Leisure Valley on Sunday. The conference is based on the theme ‘optimising patient care’ and will start from February 19-22 at the same venue.
