Police to probe 50 officers named in gangster diaries

Since 2006, 10 cases of extortion were registered against Gadoli but he was acquitted in all cases

The Gurgaon police are baffled that all businessmen, who were named in the journals recovered from gangster Sandeep Gadoli’s hideouts, have denied that they paid the alleged gangster protection money.

The police said since 2006, around 10 cases of extortion were registered against Gadoli but he was acquitted in all cases as none of the victims testified against him.

The Gurgaon police has, however, launched an investigation into the disclosure that around 50 police officers, including a DIG, have been receiving monthly kickbacks from gangsters to turn a blind eye to a flourishing extortion racket.

These details were revealed in the journals recovered by the crime branch during raids at Gadoli’s hideouts. The crime branch had recovered six diaries with incriminating details.

The incharge of crime unit Sector 10, inspector Pradyuman Singh, submitted a report to DCP (crime) Ved Prakash Godara on Friday. Godara will scrutinise the details and submit a report to Gurgaon police commissioner Navdeep Singh Virk on Monday. Virk will forward it to the state DGP for further action.

While one diary exposes the corrupt nexus of the police and criminals, another one has entries of protection money charged by Gadoli from prominent traders.
