To discuss fool-proof security arrangements, a meeting of pub and bar owners was called by DCP (crime) Maheshwar Dayal at Sector 51 on Wednesday.

“The names and mobile numbers of all visitors will be registered at the counter before they gain entry. The numbers will be verified on the spot by the attendants. Security will be strengthened. Bouncers should be hired by security agencies after procuring a licence under the Haryana Private Security Agencies Act (Rules),” Dayal said. In case, bouncers have to be employed, owners need to ensure that they are well-trained and registered with licenced security agencies. “Bouncers will be given special training to handle critical situations and deal with rowdy revellers and women,” the DCP added. Without police verification, no staff will be deployed in pubs.

Meanwhile, pub owners have lauded the DCP’s decision of ‘no bouncers’. The owners said they would now prefer to get trained security guards from registered agencies.

“We have hired 10-12 male and two female bouncers from a private security agency QRT, the first one to get a licence from Haryana government,” said Golz, a DJ and co-owner of Guvment, a discotheque in Hotel Bristol on MG Road.

“They are well-behaved. They are also equipped with walkie-talkie sets. They have been told not to pick fights and instead expel rowdy elements from the discotheque,” Golz said.
