Nearly 80 people on an average are getting verified everyday at 17 police stations across the city starting Sunday.

Though the drive is running successfully, police officials are facing tough time dealing with persons coming for the verification.

“Residents are sending domestic helps without filled-up forms. Besides, the people coming to us are not even aware of the importance of the drive. Some of them even do not have their residential proof and complete address,” said Surinder Phogat, station house officer, DLF City Phase 1 police station.

The drive will be carried on until all the required people are verified. In its recent campaign, HT had highlighted the lack of safety measures in the city.

Maheshwar Dayal, joint commissioner of police, said, “We want each locality to have domestic helps verified by the police and this is for their safety. But the property owners are not taking interest in the drive.”

On June 10, the police commissioner had requested the district administration to make it mandatory for residents to get their tenants and domestic servants verified, and on the same day the orders were passed by the district magistrate.

The directions were issued after the rise in crimes involving domestic helps and resident living in rented accommodations.
