The office of registrar (co-op societies), Gurgaon, has recommended police action against the committee headed by president RK Hooda over charges of embezzlement.

"We can finally see a ray of hope. Pending memberships of residents are getting regularized and proactive measures are being taken to re-instate faith in the committee," said Vishal Bharat, a resident.

Satish Rohilla, assistant registrar, Gurgaon, who conducted an enquiry, submitted a report to the additional chief secretary Shakuntala Jakhu two days ago.

In his report, Rohilla has concluded that the Hooda-led committee was involved in various irregularities in violation of the Haryana Co-operative Act, 1984. The offences include embezzlement, false membership, no general body meeting and absence of funds audit.

"The Hooda-led committee also misplaced several valuable files and records with mala fide intention," the report stated.
