A senior sports official from Gurugram has been booked for allegedly submitting false income documents to avail scholarships for his two sons in 2011. Police said the official, Paras Ram, wanted scholarship money worth ₹75,000 for his two sons.

Police said a case regarding the matter under IPC sections 177, 181, 200 and 420 was registered at Civil Lines police station.
The matter came to the fore after a Right to Information plea was filed in 2014 by a scholarship aspirant who wanted to know on what basis were the former gymnastics coach’s sons awarded the money. Soon after the revelation, the official claimed that he was not aware that the scheme was meant for only Scheduled Caste students, who family had less than ₹2 lakh income.
Ravinder Kumar, PRO, Gurugram police said, “A case has been registered against the accused at civil lines police station and the matter is being probed.”
