A senior official said that Huda did not have stock of cement since April this year.

As per the policy, Huda has to provide cement to contractors for construction works or grant permission for purchasing cement from open market.

According to a status report on RWH structures prepared by Huda in April, much of the work which should have been completed before the onset of monsoon is still pending.

“The work on 75 RWH structures was held up due to shortage of cement in Huda reserve stock and will be completed within the next four months,”says the report. These RWH structures have to be constructed at the cost of Rs 94.6 lakh along master roads between sectors 27/28, 27/43, 53/56, 42/54, service road of MG Road and outer road of sector 26/26-A. Similarly, repair work of reinforced cement concrete (RCC) roads in sectors 31 and 40 and RCC carpeting of roads in the Sector 31 market have been pending due to unavailability of cement.

Superintending engineer-I, the official in-charge of maintaining Huda stocks, could not be contacted for comment despite repeated attempts.
