Two killed as speeding Duster hits Tata Magic vehicle near Leisure Valley park

Another passenger sitting at the rear of the mini-truck succumbed to injuries at a Gurgaon hospital

A plan made by three friends to visit Delhi turned tragic after the Tata Magic vehicle in which they were travelling was hit by a speeding Duster near Leisure Park in Gurgaon on Thursday afternoon killing one of them, and injuring the other two.

Another passenger sitting in the rear of the mini-truck was grievously injured and later succumbed to injuries at Max hospital.

A case was registered at DLF police station on the complaint of Avinash Kumar, a resident of Delhi, under sections 279 and 304A of the IPC against the driver of the Duster. He was identified as Sulakshan Dutta.

One of the deceased, Kshitij Bhaskar, would have been 22 on June 30. The other victim, who died in the hospital, was identified as Vishawnath Pandit.

According to the police, the Tata Magic was taking a turn around near the gate number 2 of Leisure valley park around 1.15pm, when a speeding Duster coming from the Westing hotel side hit the vehicle. The impact of the crash was such that the mini-truck hit a tree and Bhaskar, who was sitting in the front, was crushed.

“Kshitij’s head hit the tree and he died while being taken to the hospital. The duster was speeding,” said Avinash, on whose complaint the case has been registered.

The trio work in a factory at Manesar. As Thursday was their weekly off, they decided to visit Delhi. “We later decided not to go to Delhi. However, in the morning, we went to Manesar market and the Tata Magic was waiting for passengers. We jumped in not knowing that a disaster was awaiting us,” Avinash said.

The driver of the Duster, Avinash said, stayed at the accident spot and also accompanied them to the police station.

The accident was reported to the DLF Sector 29 police station at 1.27pm and the police said they rushed to the spot immediately.

“A case has been registered against the accused person for rash driving and the vehicle has been seized,” said ASI Sanjay Kumar of DLF Sector 29 police station.
