It's very often noticed that women in the age group of 25-30 years are not well educated about symptoms of cancer. They either simply ignore them or are not prepared to accept that they might be suffering from a potentially fatal disease.
Dr Veena Bhat, director, Obstetrics and Gynecology at Artemis Health Institute says, "Despite considerable threats of cancer in females, only three per cent Indian women go for regular screening." She adds that it is imperative for every woman to know the factors that play a role in the onset of cancer.
Among these, habits such as excessive smoking and erratic diet can be rectified. Regular health check-ups can help detect cancer at an early stage and help increase the chances of beating the disease.
