As part of its new strategy to shrug off its junk food image, McDonald's has announced the launch of a new Go Active healthy Happy Meal for adults in Britain.
The meal, which is served in a box, contains salad, a drink and a small device that clips on a belt which counts the number of steps taken during exercising, called Stepometer.
"Achieving a balanced lifestyle is an important, complex responsibility that everyone has to address," the Daily Mail quoted president of McDonald's Europe, Russ Smyth as saying.
Earlier, due to the criticisms from health, McDonalds had to made some changes in its hugely popular Happy Meals for children. But now, with the introduction of healthy Happy Meal for adults, it will not only save itself from the worldwide criticism, but would also succeed in attracting the food lovers.
Sprinter Darren Campbell and former Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies have been signed up to promote the new meals which also come with a guide containing tips from Polish race walking world champion Robert Korzeniowski.
