Nikolaj Arcel, who caught audiences' attention with his historical drama A Royal Affair which was nominated for the 2013 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, has been chosen to direct the Rebecca remake.
The original was directed by Alfred Hitchcock who won the Best Picture Oscar for it in 1941. The gothic tale is an adaptation of a Daphne du Maurier novel of the same name about a dead woman named Rebecca who haunts her husband, his new wife and their staff a year after her death.
The screenplay for the new version will be written by Steven Knight (Eastern Promises). So far, no names have been mentioned to suggest which actors might follow in the footsteps of Laurence Olivier, Joan Fontaine and Judith Anderson.
