If Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was longer, would it have been better? For die-hard fans of the superheroes, here is one last chance of redemption for the universally panned film. The film’s Ultimate Edition, which features 30 minutes of new footage incorporated into an extended, R-rated cut of the film, will be out of June 28 along with the theatrical version of the movie. The first trailer of the extended cut came out Thursday with unseen footage.

Now, can the new edition fix everything that was broken in Dawn of Justice? That Martha scene, for instance. Jesse Eisenberg’s hyper Lex Luthor is another.

{{/usCountry}}Director Zack Snyder earlier told entertainment news website Collider, “There’s a little bit of action, there’s a little bit of violence that we trimmed out for the MPAA that we put back. The Batman warehouse rescue, there’s a couple shots of Doomsday that were too intense. Then there’s a little bit longer ending, sort of the ending sequence, and the opening of the movie, the North Africa sequence is really much different.”
The film, directed by Snyder, was the first of 10 DC Comics adaptations planned by the studio over the next five years. Along with pitting Henry Cavill’s Superman against Ben Affleck’s Batman, it introduced a number of other heroes soon to get starring roles, including Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and the Flash (Ezra Miller). The film got largely bad reviews and despite earning $800 million at box office, was seen as a disappointment.
