The first teaser trailer of The Girl In The Spider’s Web is everything you wanted it to be and much more. A sequel to David Fincher’s delectably dark 2011 film, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, the new film presents Claire Foy (Wolf Hall, The Crown) as vigilante Lisbeth Salander.
The nearly 3-minute teaser video presents the iconic character created by writer Stieg Larsson, and followed up by David Lagercrantz in the fourth book in the Millennium series, in a dark world where a man cheats on his wife and likes to beat up sex workers. This turns out to be the cue for Lisbeth Salander to enter the game.
Once again, the master hacker and her journalist friend find themselves in the web of lies, deceit and betrayal.
The sneak peek into her world shows her famous tattoo, a very volatile temperament and a rock solid resolve to not let the wrong-doers win. And yes, she also uses Taser, the electroshock weapon.
The film is be directed by Fede Alvarez (Don’t Breathe) from a screenplay by Steven Knight, Fede Alvarez and Jay Basu.
The Girl In The Spider’s Web will be the first in the best-selling series to be produced into an English-language film in its initial adaptation.
The previous books in the series have been adapted into Swedish-language films, and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara, was a remake of the Swedish film.
The film also stars Lakeith Stanfield, Sylvia Hoeks, Stephen Merchant, Claes Bang and Christopher Convery in important roles.
Girl In The Spider’s Web will open in theatres on November 9, 2018.
