Kristen Connolly, who was last seen in M Night Shyamalan’s The Happening (2008), says her forthcoming American-horror thriller, The Cabin In The Woods, is not just a scary movie.

Kristen Connolly, who was last seen in M Night Shyamalan’s The Happening (2008), says her forthcoming American-horror thriller, The Cabin In The Woods, is not just a scary movie. She says, “If you see the trailer, you get a sense of just horror in the film, but there’s a lot of crazy comedy in it as well. There are mad twists and turns.”

Is this a Scream-type of film? Kristen says, “I saw Scream (1996) when I was in high school and loved it. There are a lot of comparisons being made but Cabin… is a very different kind of film. I think that producer-writer Joss Whedon and director Drew Goddard really wanted to create something that is fun to watch, so that when you go to a theater, it's full of scream and laughter.” She adds, “I hate the torture-prone movies. I hate watching somebody get their toenail ripped off.”

About her experience of shooting in the woods in Vancouver, Kristen says, “Though the place was beautiful, it is tough to act like you are scared to death for an extended period of time. It takes an enormous amount of energy to be in that emotional state for 18 hours a day.”

Ask her if the combination of Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon made her say yes to the film? She says, “I love their past work. But they were so secretive about the film that I

even had an audition where I had to pretend I was being attacked by a dinosaur.”
