Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2015 blockbuster Jurassic World, will release in India two weeks before its US release, Universal Pictures India said in a statement Monday. The film will hit theatres in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu in 2300+ screens around the country, which is more than the 2000 allotted to Avengers: Infinity War.
Infinity War’s record-breaking run in India could possibly have contributed to this move. The film has grossed over ₹200 crore in the country. The first Jurassic World was also a huge hit in India - it made ₹140 plus - and was also released one week before the US release.
Directed by JA Bayona, the film will welcome back Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in their roles from Jurassic World as Owen and Claire, respectively. A third sequel, to be directed by Jurassic World’s Colin Trevorrow, has also been announced for a 2021 release. Meanwhile, star Chris Pratt is coming off the global success of Avengers: Infinity War, and will move on to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 soon. He also has The Lego Movie Sequel lined up, making him the only stars in the world to juggle three franchises at once.
