Mark Hamill confirms it: Luke Skywalker could be gay

Actor Mark Hamill says the sexuality of his character Luke Skywalker in Star Wars franchise is open to interpretation by viewers. Filmmaker JJ Abrams recently revealed that he would definitely feature a gay character in future Star Wars films.

Abrams, the director of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, was responding to fans calling for more diversity within the franchise and says that it might be on the way. The franchise reboot, which broke box-office records last year, was seen as progressive for a female character and a black co-star taking on the major leads. “When I talk about inclusivity it’s not excluding gay characters,” Abrams said. “It’s about inclusivity. So of course.”

There have since been speculations that Skywalker, who’s never been romantically linked to anyone in the saga, might be the one the filmmaker’s talking about. Hamill has addressed the speculations in a new interview, reported Aceshowbiz.
