Monica Dogra draws flak for her lesbian role
"Within days of the news getting announced, I have had people bad-mouthing me on social media. We need to come out and declare our sexuality," says Dogra who will play a lesbian in an American short film.

She will be releasing her debut solo album soon, and will also be seen in an American short film, Relapse, where she plays a lesbian opposite model Casey Legler. Predictably, Monica has been bombarded with hate mails for her homosexual role.
"Within days of the news getting announced, I have had people bad-mouthing me on social media. All of them, ignorantly, are scared of things to which they are not exposed. We need to come out and declare our sexuality. There is so much fear right now. So we can have adult film stars in the industry, and no one makes an issue about it, because they (adult films actors) are expected to act in a particular manner; something that is acceptable by society," says Monica, adding that Indian film industry does not allow the same time for female actors to grow old in the industry.
"Male actors do so many films as they grow older. But females aren’t allowed to age gracefully. This objectification of women has to stop," she says, adding, "Women need to be empowered."
