Hollywood veteran Gary Oldman is back with a space adventure film, The Space Between Us. It hits the theatres this Friday and also stars Hugo’s Asa Butterfield.

In this interview, The Dark Knight actor talks about what inspired him to take up the role of Nathaniel Shepherd, an ambitious pioneer of space travel, what his character is about and the arc it takes. Watch the video:
“First, it was a very good script, I just thought it was unusual, it has a great sort of charm to it, it’s a family movie, it’s a great character. It was a chance to finally work with Peter Chelsom, whom I have known for over 25 years,” Oldman said.
The actor talked about how he was most excited about his character’s enthusiasm. “When we had first seen Nathaniel, we wanted to see the youthfulness, the drive and the energy of someone that can run genesis, can literally come up with these ideas and materialize. So he wanted to see that drive, the passion and the enthusiasm.”

“So, we wanted to just see, he said that look, when you see in or speak, you see it interferes with Richard Branson, It’s like, everything is just possible, it’s in their DNA. It’s like they are just, they are driven they are unstoppable,” he said.
