Two personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), who were injured in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar, succumbed to their injuries, officials said on Monday. Three other CRPF personnels were also injured as terrorists opened fire upon a road opening party (ROP) of the battalion at Pampore bypass near Srinagar earlier in the day.
According to officials, the injured CRPF personnel were evacuated to the district hospital, where the two succumbed to their injuries. The terrorists fired at the party at around 12:50pm when CRPF troops along with Jammu and Kashmir police personnel were carrying out road opening operations.
Traffic was stopped on the highway after the attack and security forces are conducting a search operation.
“Troops of 110 Bn CRPF along with JKP carrying out ROP During which unknown terrorists (12:50 hours) fired upon the troops. In this incident total 05 CRPF personnel sustained injuries and evacuated to District Hospital,” a statement by CRPF said.
