Five workers were injured after an explosion at a coal bunker of state-run NTPC’s power plant in Kaniha, Odisha’s Angul district, the company said. Two of them were seriously injured.

The blast occurred at about 12.30am on Friday at Bunker-1 of Unit-1 of the Kaniha plant, NTPC said in a statement.
The workers were initially taken to the plant’s hospital for treatment. Three were discharged after receiving primary treatment and were in stable condition, while the other two were shifted to private hospitals in Bhubaneswar for further treatment and medical tests, the company said.
The two seriously injured workers were identified as Khageswar Sahu and Sukadeb Bhutia. The other injured workers were identified as Sushant Sahu, Kishore Pradhan and Balaram Pradhan.
Angul district collector Abdal M Akhtar said authorities had been informed about the explosion and were in contact with NTPC officials.

NTPC said it had formed a high-level technical committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the explosion and determine its cause.
