A seven-year-old girl was raped allegedly by her friend’s 70-year-old grandfather in northeast Delhi’s Jyoti Nagar Saturday evening, police said, adding that the girl sustained injuries to her private parts and was admitted in a government hospital for treatment. She was discharged after preliminary treatment, they said.
DCP (northeast) Atul Kumar Thakur said they have arrested the elderly man and booked him under relevant sections of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The girl’s family members alleged the man had made a similar attempt on the girl Friday as well, police said.
A police officer said the girl had gone out to play with her friend, who took her to her home. The friend’s grandfather allegedly lured the girl to a room on the first floor on the pretext of giving her chips and raped her. “When the girl began bleeding, the elderly man asked her to return home. He, however, threatened to kill her if she told anyone of the incident,” said the officer.
