Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday welcomed the idea of a secular front floated by his estranged uncle Shivpal Yadav, but also obliquely referred to him as a backstabber.

“Hum political log hain, aasteen ke saanp ko pehchan letey hain (we are political people and know how to identify a backstabber),” the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister told ANI.
Earlier, responding to Shivpal’s announcement of a new Samajwadi Secular Morcha (front), Akhilesh said: “It is nice that a secular front is coming up. I do not have any idea yet in what form it will come up. Samajwadi people are always ready to take a test and they also pass those tests. Secular front should indeed come up.”
Akhilesh said this on the sidelines of a conference of the SP’s cultural cell at the party office in Lucknow on Friday afternoon.
