The deceased has been identified as head constable Harbinger Singh of 6 Battalion of CRPF, a native of Hoshiarpur in Punjab.

Singh was deployed at the Gate No. 3 near the cave shrine when the landslide occurred.

“Death toll is likely to go up as we fear many pilgrims are buried under the debris,” said a police officer.

Rescue teams have been rushed to the site and the pilgrimage has been suspended for the time being, he added.
