A day after the Agra North assembly bye-election, Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) candidate Dileep Baghel resigned from the party on Monday, accusing the party unit here of non-cooperation during the campaign.
“I have been a loyal supporter of party leader Shivpal Yadav and stood by him through tough times. However, the local unit of Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) did not support me during the campaign for the by-poll and I had to carry it out all alone,” complained Baghel who is general secretary of the city unit of the party.
“I have forwarded my resignation to party president Shivpal Yadav and will meet him in Lucknow on Tuesday to apprise him about the state of affairs,” he said.
“I left the Samajwadi Party and gave my best to the PSPL because I admire Shivpal Yadav as a leader,” said Baghel. “If the party organisation was not in a mood to campaign for me and support me, then why was I given the ticket,” he questioned.
However, state head of the PSLP, Nitin Kohli denied the allegations and stated that all support was extended to Baghel.

{{/usCountry}}“The entire party organisation stood by the candidate and campaigned and yet such baseless allegations are being levelled by Dileep Baqghel for reasons best known to him,” said Kohli.
Shivpal Yadav formed the PSPL in August last year. Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Shivpal launched a political front in Uttar Pradesh called the Progressive Democratic Alliance (PDA) in March with the Krishna Patel faction of Apna Dal and the Peace Party.
