  Telangana rain: Flood-like situation in parts of the state

  Amid heavy downpour in parts of Telangana, flood-like situation prevailed in Mahabubabad area. Earlier on Wednesday, the state government announced closure of schools for two days citing to the weather deparment's prediction of heavy rainfall.

  Yamuna water level at Old Railway Bridge as of 5 pm on Wednesday has rose to 205.41 metres, showing an increasing trend again from the danger mark of 205.33 metres. The Central Water Commission (CWC) forecast said the level will reach 205.73 by 10 pm.

  Odisha: Heavy rain lashed the southern region of the state amid the influence of a low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal. The Met office has sounded orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Koraput districts.

  Maharashtra: IMD on Monday also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall and issued an orange alert for six districts of Maharashtra till July 27.

  Andhra Pradesh: As many as five places in coastal Andhra Pradesh have recorded very heavy rainfall in the 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, according to a Met official quoted by news agency PTI.

  Check latest water level of Yamuna at Old Railway bridge

  As of 2pm on Wednesday, the Yamuna water level at the Old Railway Bridge was recorded at 205.28 metres, which is a notch below the danger mark of 205.33 metres. According to Central Water Commission (CWC) data, the water level in the Yamuna rose from 205.02 metres at 10 pm on Saturday to 206.57 metres at 3 am on Monday before starting to decline again.

  Rain in other place: 1 dead after heavy showers in Odisha

  Heavy rain under the influence of a low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal is lashing most part of Odisha’s southern region and a person was washed away in Malakangiri district, which is facing flash floods yet again, officials said on Wednesday.

  Malkangiri, which experienced flash floods last week, recorded the highest rainfall of 80.4 mm since Tuesday followed by 53 mm in Ganjam. In Kandhamal district Phiringia reported 34.8 mm at Phiringia and 33 mm in Kalinga, they said.

  Yamuna level down at safe mark, more rain surges worry

  The Yamuna river in Delhi flowed below the danger mark of 205.33 metres on Wednesday but is expected to rise again following heavy rain in parts of the capital and upper catchment areas in the morning.

  According to the Central Water Commission (CWC), the water level at the Old Railway Bridge (ORB) stood at 205.09 metres at 9 am.

  Which part of Delhi recieved how much rainfall?

  The Safdarjung Observatory, Delhi's primary weather station, recorded 37.1 mm of rainfall in 24 hours ending 8:30 am on Wednesday, the IMD data showed.

  The weather stations at Lodhi Road, Ayanagar, Mungeshpur and Mayur Vihar gauged 35.1 mm, 26 mm, 53.5 mm and 110.5 mm of precipitation, respectively.

  Rainfall recorded below 15 mm is considered 'light', between 15 and 64.5 mm is 'moderate', between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm is 'heavy', between 115.6 and 204.4 is 'very heavy'. Anything above 204.4 mm is considered 'extremely heavy rainfall'.

  The city has recorded 368.6 mm of rainfall against a normal of 173.7 mm in July so far. On an average, the city receives 195.8 mm of rainfall in the entire month. (PTI)
