Drunk driver killed as he loses control of car, runs over sleeping man

Police said Ibrahim Shah lost control of the vehicle he was driving, hit an electric pole and crashed into a house. Manikandan, a middle-aged man, who was asleep inside, was seriously injured.

A car driver, allegedly drunk, was killed, and another seriously injured, when the vehicle he was driving rammed into a roadside house at Thangachimadam here on Saturday.

Police said Ibrahim Shah lost control of the car, hit an electric pole and crashed into a house. Manikandan, a middle-aged man, who was asleep inside, was seriously injured.

The driver died on the spot, while the other two occupants in the car managed to escape after the accident, police added.

The injured man was admitted to the government hospital in Madurai.

Further investigations were on, police said.
