The Manipur government has declared a one day holiday for all educational institutions including schools, colleges, higher secondary schools across the state on Monday, July 20, to enable students to watch FIFA World Cup, 2026 final match.

The order was issued on Sunday by Education Department, government of Manipur said the decision was taken “with a view to enable students across the State to enjoy the FIFA World Cup, 2026 final at 0030 hours on 20th July, 2026.”
The order further stated that “the Governor of Manipur is pleased to declare the closure of all schools as may be affiliated to the Board of Secondary Education, the Council of Higher Secondary Education, the Central Board of Secondary Education, or otherwise; colleges and higher education institutes including universities; falling under government, aided or unaided sector, on Monday the 20th July, 2026.”
The order was issued by order and in the name of the Governor and signed by Ningthoujam Geoffrey of the Education Department. Authorities have directed the Director of School Education, Director of University and Higher Education, SCERT, Deputy Commissioners, Zonal Education Officers and university registrars to circulate the order and ensure its implementation.
