Fire breaks out at Karol Bagh’s Vishal Mega Mart; 13 fire tenders deployed

A fire broke out at a shopping complex in central Delhi’s Karol Bagh on Friday evening, after which 13 fire tenders were deployed to douse the flames, and police suspect that one person is missing.

The blaze was reported around 6.44 pm on the second floor of the four-storey Vishal Mega Mart building located on Padam Singh Road, according to a police statement.

Thirteen fire tenders were rushed to the spot. While no injuries have been reported so far, one person is suspected to be missing.

“This is a Vishal Mega Mart outlet where grocery and fabric items are sold. The fire was confined mainly to the second floor of the four-storey building,” the statement said.

Police, fire department personnel, and disaster response teams are jointly conducting search and rescue operations. The area has been cordoned off, and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
