Sekhri was booked under Sections 7 and 13 (1) (d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act after he was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of 2 lakh at Prashant Vihar in Delhi.

The complainant, Rajesh Dua, of Euphoria Pharmaceuticals, Baddi, alleged that Sekhri, along with a superintendent, raided his factory and inspected records on July 23, 2009.

After this Sekhri had asked Dua to visit him in his office and allegedly demanded a bribe of 5 lakh for not registering a case.

Finally, a deal was struck at 2 lakh. Dua made a written complaint with the CBI superintendent of police on September 5. A CBI team reached Delhi 6 and nabbed Sekhri red-handed.

Sekhri is not the first NCB director to have a run in with the law.
